TraCE: The Travelling Case of an Experimental Archaeologist
is an Erasmus+ Project which promotes experimental archaeology as an interdisciplinary STEAM education approach in the late primary and secondary schools. Within the framework of the EU’s Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027), TraCE Project aims to develop interest and advance excellence in STEM disciplines among school students (11-15 years old), and particularly among girls, with the use of exp. arch. as a way to enhance their digital literacy and scientific skills.
The digital simulations enable students to explore scientific concepts and establish connections between seemingly disparate fields (such as chemistry and history). They offer 3D representations of ancient artefacts or material to practice and incorporate STEM theories, concept and formulas. The digital simulations can be broadly used by teachers and educators to foster an interactive learning environment in their classroom, with the help of digitized methodologies that are designed to be inclusive and promote the major role of women in science.
